Salaam

Salaam is part of Edinburgh City Mission, a  ministry with which St Thomas' has had a long association.

Established in 2020, Salaam seeks to stimulate and strengthen the church in Edinburgh to reach out in love and welcome to the many people arriving in our city to seek refuge. Salaam (similar to the Hebrew word shalom) is the Arabic for "peace" or "hello" and expresses the desire that newcomers to Edinburgh would experience the peace that ultimately can only be found in Jesus.

In partnership with local churches, Salaam runs English Conversation Cafés, a craft group for women, a summer online English class, and a befriending programme. Every Christmas it coordinates the giving of hundreds of hampers to people who have recently arrived.
